Chesterfield

Chesterfield cigarettes were first manufactured by The American Ligett Group; however it is now manufactured by the Philip Morris Company. This cigarette first became well-liked when it was supplied to the courageous troops in battle during World War I. Advertisement campaigns were quickly created, showing soldiers as heroes who smoked this brand of cigarette. Soon, the Chesterfield cigarette became one of the top selling cigarette brands in the United States. Many famous celebrities in the 1950’s and 1960’s smoked Chesterfield, raising its level of popularity. In the late 1960’s the cigarette went through a huge transformation. They were made to be longer than any other cigarettes at the time, being 100 millimeters in length. Many other cigarette companies tried to duplicate that marketing technique but the Chesterfield decided to take it one step further. The company came out with what was called the Chesterfield 101 brand. This cigarette was one millimeter longer than the others that copied its idea. Do to those smart marketing ideas, the Chesterfield cigarette was and always will be a very well known cigarette. Chesterfield offers Classic, Light and Ultra Light versions.
