West cigarettes are manufactured by the British Imperial Tobacco Company. This brand is a German produced cigarette, thus its popularity in the country of Germany is extremely strong. The West cigarette made a name for itself when it became a sponsor of the McLaren Formula 1 racing team in the year 1997. The advertising created by that venture helped raise this cigarettes popularity. Due to certain regulations that were put into place concerning cigarette advertising, the West cigarette could no longer work with the McLaren racing team beginning in the year 2005. Ever since the 1990’s the West cigarette has become very popular in more than one hundred countries worldwide. It is especially popular in Europe. In Germany, West is the second best selling cigarette. It is the number one selling brand in Slovenia. It also is at the top of the selling lists in Russia, Poland and Azerbaijan. Although not a top seller in the United States, the sales that it generates in other parts of the world make it good competition for other brands. West is considered to be a premium cigarette and is made with a collection of different types of tobacco. West cigarettes come in a full flavor, medium flavor, light flavor and ultra light flavor.
